    NORTH BALDWIN, NY, August 28, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melanie L. Freese, MA, MLS, is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on over five decades of expertise in the field of academia, Ms. Freese specializes in library services. Since 1990, she has built a prolific career as an associate professor of library services at Hofstra University. In this capacity, she is responsible for cataloging, classifying and managing various education resources for the university's curriculum materials centers. During this time, Ms. Freese was also active as an assistant dean and chairwoman of technical services for the Joan and Donald E. Axinn Library at Hofstra University from 1999 to 2001.

Ms. Freese initially began her career working as an elementary school teacher in Roosevelt, New York from 1967 to 1968, and later taught at Grace Episcopal Day School in Massapequa, New York from 1969 until 1970. Between 1972 and 1983, she found much success at Adelphi University, where she served in a variety of roles, including various assistant positions and as a reserve librarian at the university's Swirbul Library. Following this post, she excelled as a senior catalog librarian at Hofstra University from 1984 until 1999. In addition to her primary vocation, Ms. Freese has served as a Sunday school teacher, librarian and lector at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Baldwin, New York as of 1959.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Freese pursued an education at Hofstra University, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in elementary education, with a minor in history in 1967, followed by a master's degree in elementary education in 1969. She continued her academic efforts at Long Island University Post, earning a Master of Library Services in 1977. As a commitment to her field, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Nassau County Library Association, the American Library Association, the Women's Advanced Club of Baldwin and Baldwin Civic Association Inc., among others. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Freese has contributed to Business and Professional Women's Club of Nassau County Inc., the Baldwin Life Stitches Inc. and the Academic and Special Libraries Division of the Nassau County Library Association.

Well-regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. Freese has received multiple awards, including the Woman of the Year award from Business and Professional Women's Club of Nassau County Inc., the 20th Century Award for Achievement from the International Biographical Centre, the Distinguished Service Award from St. Peter's Lutheran Church, the Marquis Who's Who Humanitarian Award and the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Additionally, she has been recognized as a Marquis Who's Who Top Professional. Among her vocational accomplishments, she is most proud of establishing a library for the residents of the Wayside Home School for Girls in 1993. Reflecting on a long career, she attributes much of her success to her education and strong work ethic. Looking toward the future, Ms. Freese aspires to work for as long as possible before she can successfully retire and hopes to continually contribute to her community.
