A celebrated figure in the music industry and academia for many years, Ms. Elton balances her time between heading educational partnerships at The MLC (Mechanical Licensing Collective) and serving as a faculty member and academic leader at the University of Miami.

Among other noteworthy roles, Ms. Elton was a conference director for the Miami Music Festival, the managing director of The Selena Brand, a longtime consultant of Sony Music Entertainment, and the vice president of product management for Warner Music Group.

Apart from her long and extensive career in music and education, Ms. Elton spent several years as a criminal prosecutor and assistant state attorney for The Office of Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle from 2004 to 2005. She also gained experience as a family court case manager in Miami-Dade County between 2003 and 2004.

As a talented writer, Ms. Elton took over authoring the well-known music business textbook, "Music Business Handbook and Career Guide," in anticipation of the retiring of its previous author, Tim Baskerville. The 13th edition was released via Sage Publications in 2022. Ms. Elton also authored a book chapter through Oxford University Press and numerous articles through the Journal of the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA).
