OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA, August 30, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Al Omar has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Drawing on more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Omar presently excels as the principal of the eponymous Al Omar Consulting. Once he established his own business, he worked as the senior licensing engineer for GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy International, LLC, where he developed regulatory framework and licensing-basis documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Likewise, he has served as the senior regulatory program officer, project manager, project engineer, and technical specialist for the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission. During the early stages of his career, Dr. Omar gained valuable expertise in the nuclear field as a process system design engineer for Atomic Energy of Canada Limited and as project engineer for Westinghouse Canada Int.

Alongside his work, Dr. Omar contributed to his community as the president of an organization in Ottawa, donated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Diabetes Foundation, and served as a member of the Board of Commissioners for the Gloucester Police Force in Ontario. An expert in his field, he holds a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering from Alexandria University, a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Manitoba, and a PhD in engineering physics from McMaster University. Dr. Omar is professionally affiliated with and certified by the Project Management Institute and Professional Engineers Ontario.

In light of his professional achievements, Dr. Omar won the 2012 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his CNSC's work on Periodic Safety Reviews, and several citations for being a good citizen and contributing to peace in his community. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in overhauling critical parts of the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report with GE-Hitachi. The cornerstone of his success lay with and inspired by his father, who owned a shop specializing in furniture based on the French Louis XV and Louis XVI brands. Looking toward the future, Dr. Omar aims to continue to advance and support licensing of large and small-modular nuclear reactors.
