Marquis Who's Who Selects Sunni L. Leach for Success in the Preservation of Natural Resources

Ms. Sunni L. Leach is noted for her latest role as the executive director of the Office of Kentucky Nature Preserves



In her role, she has the honor and privilege to help preserve and manage the state's rarest ecological communities while providing oversight and management to all staff members and its properties.

    RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY, September 01, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sunni L. Leach has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Ms. Leach has been representing the Office of Kentucky Nature Preserves, Commonwealth of Kentucky, as the executive director, since 2021. In her role, she has the honor and privilege to help preserve and manage the state's rarest ecological communities while providing oversight and management to all staff members and its properties. Well-versed in working with government agencies, farmers, businesses, and citizens locally, regionally, and nationally to address various needs, Ms. Leach looks forward to eventually establishing her own practice to continue ensuring the preservation of future resources.

Before accepting her present position, Ms. Leach spent over 25 years as the branch manager of the wildlife diversity program for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, Commonwealth of Kentucky, from 1995 to 2021. There, she oversaw all wildlife and aquatic organisms not subject to hunting and fishing.

Active in civic interests, Ms. Leach supports the Caretakers Riding Club in Russell Springs, Kentucky, in honor of her late father. The organization serves to help needy families throughout the area.

Honoring her work ethic, Ms. Leach received a Director's Leadership Award and a Director's Outstanding Group Achievement Award. She credits the mentorship she has received for much of her professional success. Ms. Leach also notes the significance of hiring knowledgeable individuals because she enjoys their company and learning from them.

An alumnus of Eastern Kentucky University, Ms. Leach received a bachelor's degree in wildlife management in 1993 and a master's degree in biology in 1995. She also received certification as a general real property appraiser through the Kentucky Real Estate Appraisal Board, Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Ms. Leach has been active with numerous professional organizations relating to her field. She has served as an executive committee member of the Kentucky Land Trust Coalition, a board member of the Kentucky Heritage Land Conservation Fund Board, Commonwealth of Kentucky, and a co-chair of the White Nose Syndrome National Executive and Steering Committee. She is also a member of the Appraisal Institute and The Wildlife Society.
