Outside of her work, Ms. Stewart volunteers at her children's school and her local church. During the early stages of her career, she gained valuable expertise in the field of nursing in the trauma unit at Johnson City Medical Center, where she served between 2008 and 2011. She worked at Mountain States Health Alliance Home Health in 2011-2012. She also worked as a Case Manager for the Johnson City Medical Center from 2012-2013 assisting with Utilization Review and Discharge Planning. Before embarking on her professional journey, she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Milligan College.
While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Stewart takes the most pride in earning her nursing degree and taking care of a particular patient who was hit by a drunk driver, and then later becoming an amputee. This patient recognized her more than a decade later and thanked her for her care at an event celebrating nurses and their hard work and dedication during Nurses Week of 2021. The cornerstone of her success lay in her family's support, perseverance, hard work, and passion for what she does. Within the next five to ten years, Ms. Stewart intends to experience the continued growth and success of her career at Humana.
