Erica Hughey, MBA, has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Ms. Erica Hughey, MBA, is lauded for more than 20 years of success in social equity advocacy and strategic diversity leadership



She has established various initiatives that have successfully influenced the organization's culture, which strives to promote excellence.

    EL PASO, TX, September 14, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Erica Hughey, MBA, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Contributing over two decades of expertise in social equity advocacy and strategic diversity leadership, Ms. Hughey joined Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2022 as the organization's inaugural chief diversity officer. Deriving great satisfaction in her role, she has established various initiatives that have successfully influenced the organization's culture, which strives to promote excellence. Among many responsibilities, Ms. Hughey ensures that all employees enjoy a harmonious work environment and that all students are receiving similar learning environments. She also handles various administrative responsibilities, including developing training programs on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and other topics, and advises the college president and dean on various relative matters. Moreover, Ms. Hughey serves as an ombudsman regarding questions or concerns, processes and procedures, and best practices and as an impartial third-party advocacy resource.

Ms. Hughey's cultural influence at the corporate level spans many industries and has enabled her to collaborate successfully with governments, hospitals, and colleges as a subject matter expert. She formerly garnered success with the U.S. Army as a DEI advisor and victim advocate in El Paso, Texas, from 2021 to 2022 and as a community life officer and program manager in Japan from 2018 to 2021. Ms. Hughey particularly enjoys advocating for military families as she served our country for 15 years in volunteer and paid positions as the spouse of a decorated military service member who retired from the U. S. Army after 25 years of service. Among other roles, she was the chief executive officer of The Treasure Trove Thrift Store, a nonprofit organization in Camp Zama, Japan, between 2018 and 2019.

During an earlier stage of her career, Ms. Hughey was a social worker in Virginia. Her desire to become the best version of herself so she can help others, despite her upbringing in a home with low socioeconomic status, led her to the industry. Ms. Hughey began in the field by advocating for single parents, children in foster care, those facing homelessness, and survivors of domestic violence, and sexual assault. In 2005, She subsequently went into business for herself, opening Turning Point Family Services and began supporting additional marginalized populations and advocating for equity and inclusion. Moreover, Ms. Hughey worked in Texas as a career development and admissions counselor and wellness and fitness operations manager and spent time in Kansas recruiting for a health care facility and serving as a lead training facilitator and instructor for a business and consulting firm in Kansas.

As a leader in her community, Ms. Hughey has been active with various local initiatives, having served as a past president of the Camp Zama Middle High School Parent Teacher Organization from 2018 to 2021. She has also been instrumental in raising scholarship funds, helping register voters, and educating the community on the civic process as a member of her beloved volunteer service organization, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Ms. Hughey is highly educated, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Virginia State University in 1999 and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in human resource management, magna cum laude, from Columbia Southern University in 2015. Additional educational pursuits to her credit include certification in diversity and inclusion through Cornell University in 2022 and as a lean six sigma green belt through the Salina Regional Health Center in 2016. Moreover, Ms. Hughey became a master resiliency trainer and completed the SHARP career course through the U.S. Army in 2019 and 2022, respectively.

Remaining aware of developments in her field, Ms. Hughey is a member of the International Ombudsman Association and the Society for Diversity Inc. She has been recognized for her volunteer and advocacy services by being named as the Outstanding Ambassador of the Year by the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss in El Paso in 2022.
