A skilled legal professional with more than four decades of excellence in real estate, corporate transactions and consulting for the affordable housing industry, Mr. Lamagna has earned distinction as an attorney with his own firm, Lamagna Law Offices. Since 1998, he has focused his efforts on handling estate planning, transactions on buying and selling of small businesses and real estate closings for a variety of clients. Additionally, he is a valued member of the Rhode Island Bar Association as well as the Federal Bar Association.
Outside of his primary career efforts, Mr. Lamagna currently serves as an Executive Board member and Professional Development Committee member of the New England Regional Council of the National Association (NERC/NAHRO). He was a member of the Board of Governors of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) and also served on the Administrative/Financial Committee and the Community Revitalization and Redevelopment Committees.
Prior to his present roles, Mr. Lamagna served as the commissioner for the Cumberland Housing Authority from 1992 until 2019, and as a founding member and President of Valley Affordable Housing Corp, a nonprofit affordable housing developer from 1996 to 2019. He also was the vice president and general counsel for the NESCTC Security Agency, LLC from 2011 to March 2020. To prepare for his law career, he earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Providence College and a Juris Doctor from the Suffolk University Law School in 1972.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Lamagna was honored with an Anton Outstanding Commissioner Award from the Rhode Island Executive Director Association. He was also named Commissioner of the Year by the Regional Council of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials and was presented with a Lifetime Achievements Award from Top Lawyers. Added to these, the Portuguese American Citizens Committee of Rhode Island recognized him as Businessman of the Year for his stellar work. Within the coming years, Mr. Lamagna intends to spend his time watching his grandchildren grow up and enjoy traveling with his family.
