Prior to his current role, Dr. Ramirez Garcia began his career as a research assistant with the University of Arkansas in 2012 and became a design engineer and project manager for Tatum Smith Welcher Engineers in 2015. While working his way up in managerial roles there, he also served as a postdoctoral researcher for the University of Arkansas from 2016 until 2018.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ramirez Garcia has contributed numerous articles to professional journals, including "Influence of Concrete Strength on Development Length of Prestressed Concrete Members" for the Journal of Building Engineering and "Effect of Concrete Compressive Strength on Transfer Length" to the journal Structures in 2016. He also authored "A Higher-Order Equation for Modeling Strand Bond in Pretensioned Concrete Beams," featured in Engineering Structures in 2016, and "A New Smoothing Technique for Transfer-Length Determination," which was published in the ACI Structural Journal in 2018. Based on his research findings, Dr. Ramirez Garcia was invited as an honorable speaker at the International Conference on Numerical Modeling in Engineering-2019, Beijing China.
Along with these professional accomplishments, Dr. Ramirez Garcia was vital in the revision and modification to improve student research papers at the National University of Engineering in Peru. He was inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society in 2015 and had his education supported by a Fulbright Scholarship in 2009. Additionally, he was honored as the Best Engineer in Peru by the Engineering Board of Peru in 2022.
To prepare for his professional journey, Dr. Ramirez Garcia earned his bachelor's degree and completed coursework toward a master's degree in structural engineering at the National University "Santiago Antunez de Mayolo," Huaraz, Perú. Following these achievements, he attained a master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 2012. He subsequently gained a Doctor of Philosophy in civil engineering from the University of Arkansas in 2016. Well-qualified in his field, he is a certified professional engineer with the State of Arkansas and Peru.
Looking to the future, Dr. Ramirez Garcia intends to take on larger projects and ultimately establish his own business, aiming to make positive contributions to his community. He is also working towards another project where he will collaborate with college students and professors in order to publish insightful papers, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience to support the education and growth of the next generation of engineering professionals.
Dr. Ramirez Garcia acknowledges his spouse Ketty Lazaro Flores and his eight children because they have provided huge support during his journey.
