Mr. Amelio initially began his career working at IBM in a variety of roles, including as a general manager, from 1979 until 1997. Shortly after, he was active as the president of the Asia Pacific Japan department at Dell Inc. Subsequently, he contributed to Lenovo as chief executive officer, followed by a similar post at CHC Helicopter. Mr. Amelio also served as the chief executive officer of Avnet Inc. from 2016 to 2020.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Amelio pursued an education at Lehigh University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1979. He continued his academic efforts at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, earning a Master of Science in management in 1990. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Amelio serves as the chairman of the board and co-founder of Caring for Cambodia, a charity that he established with his wife over 20 years ago, building 21 schools that provide education to over 7,000 kids in Cambodia.
Well-regarded for his contributions to the field, Mr. Amelio has been distinguished as a Columbus Citizens Foundation honoree in 2022, and a recipient of multiple awards, including the Business of the Year award from Forbes Asia in 2008 and the Top Leader in Arizona award from Avnet Inc.
