Leveraging more than a decade of excellence in education, health sciences and law enforcement, Dr. Hermans has earned distinction as an adjunct professor with Texas Christian University and Howard Payne University. Since 2023, he has focused his efforts on teaching courses within the department of kinesiology, combining his career within the military police force and his strong academic background. Additionally, he has been an adjunct instructor providing CPR training for the police academy at Hill College since 2021 and has served as the head of sports performance, strength and conditioning for Southwest Christian School since 2022.
Prior to starting his private career, Dr. Hermans served honorably in the United States Air Force from 2005 until 2013. He was on active duty until 2009 when he was promoted to a staff sergeant of security forces. He primarily served as an instructor providing physical training to military personnel and teaching self-defense and hand-to-hand combat techniques to both military and law enforcement personnel He also was a member of the Dyess Air Force Base's We Care Team throughout his time in the military. In recognition of his dedicated service, he was honored with an Iraq Campaign Medal and was named both Airman of the Month and Airman of the Year by the United States Air Force.
Also dedicated to civil advocacy, Dr. Hermans is a basic life support and CPR instructor for a local college, having held a similar position with the United States Air Force. Additionally, he is a volunteer coordinator for the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children.
Following his military service, Dr. Hermans became a strength, conditioning and sport performance trainer for Texas Health Resources in 2013. He subsequently joined CapRock Wealth Advisors as the director of business development in 2017 and was and insurance specialist there in 2019. During this period, he also was the chief executive officer of World Gym Burleson and World Gym Cleburne from 2019 until 2022 and an adjunct professor with Howard Payne University's department of criminal justice from 2011 until 2022.
To prepare for his professional journey, Dr. Hermans earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and homeland security from Madonna University in 2005 and a master's degree in the same area of study from the American Military University in 2011. Following these achievements, he attended the University of Texas at Arlington for its athletic training program and applied that coursework to a Doctor of Health Science in exercise and sport science from Liberty University in 2023. Well-qualified in his field, he holds a master personal trainer certification from American Fitness and Sports.
