Backed by years of professional experience in engineering and research, Mr. Sarma presently excels as a Researcher at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is also a Technical Researcher and Content Creator for "HackBox," a video game that is in the production stages and incorporates cybersecurity learning. Previously, he served the Rochester Institute of Technology as a Teaching Assistant for the Cryptography and InfoSec programming courses. Over the years, Mr. Sarma worked in information security and engineering with Commonwealth Care Alliance, Indium Software, and Atos.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Sarma gained valuable expertise in power systems control, cyber risk management, security architecture design, and more with such companies as TANGEDCO, Siemens, Ashok Leyland, and Integral Coach Factory. In conjunction with his work, he has dedicated himself to several clubs and groups at the Rochester Institute of Technology, including the Disability Culture Club, the College Theater Group, and the RIT Global Union.
An expert in his field, Mr. Sarma holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Subsequently, he expanded upon his professional knowledge by completing the Saunders Leadership Course at the Rochester Institute of Technology's Saunders College of Business. In light of his outstanding body of work, he received a TNSCST Award for Best Engineering Projects in the State of Tamil Nadu in India. Looking forward, Mr. Sarma aims to expand upon his knowledge of cybersecurity in a corporate environment and conduct additional research in the field.
Despite experiencing multiple mental illness symptoms since childhood and getting diagnosed only during his early 20s, Mr. Sarma hopes that his story and achievements in the engineering field will help inspire his fellow disabled peers to follow their dreams and achieve prominence in their desired fields - just like he did.
