Dr. McCants is distinguished for nearly a decade of excellence in the veterinary field. As the owner and veterinarian of Dr. Donita's Veterinary Concierge Services, she provides excellent and convenient care to pet owners via a mobile clinic. She founded the company in 2021, beginning with a modest selection of supplies and working out of her SUV; however, she soon upgraded to a Mercedes Sprinter van fully equipped as a "hospital on wheels." From this new facility, Dr. McCants now offers a comprehensive range of services, including spays, neuters, mass removals and X-rays.
Previously, Dr. McCants was co-owner and associate veterinarian of Luv N Care Animal Hospital. She completed an internship at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in Orlando and served as associate veterinarian at Banfield Pet Hospital.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. McCants obtained a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tuskegee University in 2015 and a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from the University of Georgia in 2011. During her years in veterinary school, she was recognized as a Veterinary Research Scholar by the Morris Animal Foundation and earned a Simmons Business Aptitude Award from Simmons Educational Fund. Additionally, she is a certified Fear Free Professional.
Though her professional journey has been filled with many memorable moments, Dr. McCants is especially proud of her recent achievements with DVM360, a widely recognized veterinary publication. These include presenting at a DVM360 conference on quality-of-life issues for veterinarians and successfully authoring multiple articles for the magazine.
Known for her volunteerism, Dr. McCants has helped homeless residents in her region by providing free exams and vaccines for their pets. She also enjoys mentoring pre-veterinary students, to whom she passes on the importance of hard work and resilience, lessons that were taught to Dr. McCants by her mother.
Outside of work, Dr. McCants enjoys spending time with her spouse and their 10-year-old son, as well as bodybuilding. In the coming decade, she hopes to expand her mobile clinic operations.
