A leader in the restaurant industry for more than two decades, Mr. Sodano began his entrepreneurial investments with his brother Danilo when they opened Casa Mia Cucina Italiana in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1999. Since then, he became interested in expanding his capabilities by becoming involved with the Fratelli la Bufala brand, a pizzeria chain founded in Naples in 2003. Collaborating with them over a decade ago, Mr. Sodano opened several locations in Sicily. He also brought the concept to his hometown of Scottsdale by launching a flagship location in 2022.
Mr. Sodano noted that while this was not the first Fratelli la Bufala location to open in the U.S. (the Miami Beach, Florida, pizzeria has been a staple in the South Florida area for more than 15 years), he was excited to offer the Neopolitan (Naples) style pizza to his local community. Fratelli la Bufala, now with more than 60 locations, expects to continue branching out throughout the U.S. and has garnered exclusivity in Arizona, Nevada, California, and Texas. Focusing heavily on developing the brand and critical business relationships, particularly with investors, Mr. Sodano has two business partners, Mr. Anthony Carioscia and Mr. Aaron Alvarez, who have been instrumental in his success. Despite receiving offers to begin franchising in Nevada, California, Colorado and Texas, he remains committed to ensuring the success of his Scottsdale location for now.
Mr. Sodano has also found success as a partner at DFG Food Company Inc. in Scottsdale since 2000. During an earlier stage of his career, he was a manager at ING Nederland, recognized as the largest financial services provider in the country, from 1986 to 1989. Mr. Sodano served in the same capacity at Finanza & Futuro, an Italian-based bank, between 1984 and 1986.
Mr. Sodano completed college coursework at the IUN (University Naval Institute) of Naples. As a testament to his success as a restauranteur, he has received numerous positive reviews online, including on OpenTable. He also received the Best Restaurant in Crowd Award in 2023.
