As an expert in fundraising, Ms. Tagg garnered previous success with Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital between 2017 and 2022. Hired as a national senior director of field development with the American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities (ALSAC), which serves as the fundraising and awareness organization for Saint Jude, she rose to national interim executive director of field development in 2019. She subsequently became a national lead on high-influence volunteer strategy in 2020 and area executive director of advancement from 2021 to 2022. Ms. Tagg also worked for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association between 2005 and 2017, beginning as the regional vice president of development in Southeast Michigan and transitioning into executive director and vice president of development in Miami and Nashville, Tennessee. Additionally, Ms. Tagg had the opportunity to serve as the senior vice president of development. During her tenure with the American Heart Association, her goals included helping support its mission of reducing death and disability from heart disease by 20%. She notably led a team that organized numerous fundraising events, raising the first $2 million from a Heart Ball black tie social event in the organization's history.
Before transitioning into the nonprofit sector, Ms. Tagg spent four years with Mesa Airlines Inc. as a captain and check airman, beginning in 1999. Inspired by her father, who served in the U.S. Air Force Academy and police via the C-130s before becoming a private pilot for Southwest Airlines for over 35 years, she became recognized as the first female check airman to join the organization. Pivoting away from a promising future as an airline pilot, Ms. Tagg noted, was only after experiencing the loss of her roommate and best friend who piloted the downed 2003 U.S. Airways flight.
Active civically, Ms. Tagg was involved in development strategies at FAIR Girls, a nonprofit that offers intervention and care to female survivors of human trafficking and the commercial sexual exploitation of children. She has also served as an advisory board member for the Illuminate Academy Inc., as a project consultant for Catchafire, as a member, mentor, and author for Women in Aviation International, and as a team coach for JDRF to Cure Diabetes.
Ms. Tagg graduated from the Parks College of Engineering at Saint Louis University with a Bachelor of Science in aeronautical science. She also received certification in leadership through Eckerd College and certification as a flight instructor flight instructing second lieutenants from the Air Force Academy through the U.S. Air Force Academy. Ms. Tagg is active professionally as a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the International Society of Female Professionals. In light of her accomplishments, the American Heart Association named her the Senior Vice President of the Year in 2016.
