Drawing on over four decades of expertise, Mr. Hutchinson specializes in music education and as a band director, music clinician and conductor. Prior to his retirement in 2021 and beginning in 1982, he built a prolific career as a music conductor and clinician at the Peach County and Savannah-Chatham County Public School Systems. In that capacity, he instructed students from fourth to 12th grade, led ensembles, facilitated workshops across various international locations, traveled extensively throughout the nation, provided guidance to bands, and conducted clinic sessions.

Following a distinguished four-decade tenure in music education, Mr. Hutchinson established MEH Inc. The genesis of this initiative stems from his enduring commitment to fostering children's learning, a pursuit to which he has dedicated a substantial portion of his career. He initially began his vocation serving as a keyboard player for recording artist Clarence Carter, followed by the post of a band director at the Peach County School District. Subsequently, Mr. Hutchinson found much success as a director of bands at Savannah High School, the Savannah Arts Academy and the Garrison School of Visual and Performing Arts.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Hutchinson pursued an education at Georgia Southwestern State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Music Education in 1982. He continued his academic efforts at the VanderCook College of Music, earning a Master of Music Education degree and an Educational Specialist degree from Troy University. Mr. Hutchinson later completed his scholarly endeavors at Liberty University, where he attained a Doctor of Music Education in 2023.

As a commitment to his field, Mr. Hutchinson has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the National Association for Music Education, the Georgia Music Educators Association, the Georgia Association of Educators, the National Band Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity and the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, he contributes to his local Antioch Baptist Church, the Coastal Jazz Association and the Savannah Music Festival.

Well-regarded for his contributions to the field, Mr. Hutchinson has garnered numerous letters of congratulations from such notable figures as former President William Clinton, Senator Max Cleland, Congressman Jack Kingston, former Savannah Mayor Floyd Adams Jr., and former Governor Zell Miller. Additionally, he has received multiple awards, including an Award for Outstanding Performance as a Conductor, an Award of Excellence from the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, a Certificate of Appreciation from the Georgia Music Educators Association, and a Citation of Excellence from the National Band Association Executive Committee, to only name a few.

Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Hutchinson is most proud of attaining his doctorate degree and of his considerable career as a music instructor, a band director, and a clinician, who guided and mentored students towards diverse vocational paths and achieved recognition for various performances. Reflecting on an extensive career, he attributes much of his success to divine providence. Looking toward the future, Mr. Hutchinson aspires to engage in educational endeavors as an advocate of more funding for music and band education within schools. He hopes to collaborate with superintendents and academic administrators on the advancement of curriculum and unallocated funds for existing art programs.
