Born in India, Dr. Chaudhuri has long sought to use scientific research as a path toward improving the lives of others. After attaining a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, he studied toward a Doctor of Philosophy at Banaras Hindu University, where he graduated in 1973. During the initial stages of his career, he worked in academia at the University of Bonn in Germany, after which he moved to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Switzerland and, in 1980, the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Following this period, Dr. Chaudhuri began working in the private sector at ISP Chemicals and later served as the technical director of personal care at EMD Chemicals (an affiliate of Merck Germany). After a decade in this role, he decided to leverage his experiences in the field toward entrepreneurship and launched Sytheon in 2006.
Among his greatest achievements, Dr. Chaudhuri is most proud to have led Sytheon through the COVID-19 pandemic. While other businesses floundered, his company switched to an online campaign that maintained a constant presence in the skin care market, ensuring that sales remained strong, and growth could be sustained from 2020 into the present day. Dr. Chaudhuri is enormously proud of another achievement – inventing Sytenol® A Bakuchiol as the true alternative to Retinol, which is backed by solid science, publications, and clinical studies. Moreover, he is gratified to have been the recipient of various accolades, including his recognition among the Most Innovative Business Leaders of 2022 by The Business Fame and the Top 10 Inspiring Business Leaders of 2022 by Inc. Magazine. Dr. Chaudhuri was also the winner of the Best Paper Award from the Society of Cosmetic Chemists in 2018 and was honored with the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship, which supports talented researchers from around the world.
Well-regarded for his scholarly prowess, Dr. Chaudhuri is the holder of well over 100 U.S. and international patents and has contributed to the publishing of over 100 articles and papers that have appeared in the Prime Archives in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, JID Innovations, European Journal of Dermatology, International Journal of Cosmetic Science, Antioxidants, the Journal of Clinical Medicine, and the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, among many other scientific publications. To remain aware of developments within his area of expertise, he also remains affiliated with the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and the American Chemical Society.
In conjunction with his work, Dr. Chaudhuri dedicates himself to those less fortunate through Sytheon's charitable activities and has collaborated fruitfully with the Moffitt Cancer Research Center and UC-Davis California. Driven to exert a positive impact on the lives of others, he aspires to leave behind a legacy of benevolent research, whose effects will persist long after he is gone.
