Ms. Query, a seasoned professional in the field of event management, serves as the chief executive officer of Lexington Event Company, a full service event management firm based in Kentucky. Leveraging more than 45 years of combined experience in hospitality and entertainment, LEC has garnered a laudable reputation for its meticulous attention to detail and the wide range of events it can accommodate, including trade shows, festivals, weddings, team-building exercises, fundraisers and conferences, to name only a few. Since its opening in 2013, LEC has expanded the scope of its operations across the central Kentucky region, and has produced numerous events throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Moreover, the company has collaborated with more than 50 nonprofit organizations in Kentucky to help raise funds for charitable events, reflecting a dedication to the best practices of service to the community.
Long driven by a passion for entertainment, hospitality and events, Ms. Query initially worked in the catering and restaurant industry, starting at Seasons Catering, Texas Roadhouse, and Regatta Seafood Grille. Having accrued enough experience in food/beverage and management to navigate the intricacies of running a business, she took the risk of delving into entrepreneurship and opened LEC in 2013. Outside of her primary endeavors, Ms. Query has also found success as a radio DJ for Lexington Community Radio, owner of a successful event management/operations company, and as the host of her own podcast, "Big Ideas, Small Business." Furthermore, in recognition of her expertise, she has been invited by local universities to teach courses on event management and entrepreneurship.
Ms. Query first studied communications and marketing at the University of Kentucky, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2010. Years later, she went on to obtain a Master of Business Administration in small business enterprise and international business at Louisiana State University, and a Women in Leadership certification at the University of Notre Dame.
Known for her civic advocacy, Ms. Query has served as the chairperson of the Kentucky Chamber Small Business Policy Council Committee. She has also been a board member of the Lexington Children's Theatre, the Fayette Education Foundation, Shriner's of Lexington, the Dean's Leadership Council at the University of Kentucky, and the local chamber of commerce.
To aid in her professional development, Ms. Query has, at various points in her career, been a member of the Dell Women's Entrepreneur Network, Meeting Professionals International, Leadership Lexington, the Lexington Young Professionals Association, the latter of which recognized her as a Rising Star in 2014. Additionally, she was named as the Rookie of the Year by the Premier Chapter of Business Network International in 2015, as the Young Entrepreneur of the Year by Commerce Lexington Inc. in 2016, as a "Wonder Woman" by the Richmond Business Society in 2017, as a listee among the 50 Under 50 by TOPS in Lexington in 2020 and 2021, and as a Top 10 Wedding Planner by Wedding Row in 2021, and the Entrepreneur of the Year by Commerce Lexington in 2023.
Ms. Query attributes her success to the influence of good mentors, as well as her unwavering commitment to hard work and her ability to learn the right lessons from her mistakes. Additionally, the support of her wife and son, as well as the inspiration drawn from her grandfather and parents, have been vital in her professional journey. Living by the motto "keep going," Ms. Query is a firm believer in perseverance and hard work. Looking forward, she has set ambitious goals for the next five to 10 years, envisioning more time spent teaching and coaching. Notably, she is in the process of developing a coaching-mentorship workshop program for entrepreneurs, professionals in the events industry, and on behalf of nonprofits.
