Hardison & Cochran Urges Awareness as Virus Season Brings Triple Threat

COVID-19 remains a serious health risk in North Carolina

RALEIGH, NC, November 02, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hardison & Cochran, Attorneys at Law, urges North Carolinians to be aware that COVID-19 continues to change and poses a significant health threat, especially to older people and people with underlying health conditions.

With virus season approaching and concern about the triple threat of COVID-19, influenza, and RSV, the Raleigh law firm encourages everyone to talk with a health professional about the recommended vaccines, which are a powerful tool to manage respiratory infection.

The recently updated COVID-19 vaccine offers the most up-to-date protection against new variants of the coronavirus as infections and hospitalization have been on the rise recently in North Carolina, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reports. The updated vaccine is designed to match the evolving COVID-19 virus. It lowers the risk of those infected experiencing serious respiratory illness, hospitalization, and death.

Everyone six months and older should get the updated COVID-19 vaccine, say health officials with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. People 65 or older, children younger than five, pregnant women, and people with medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and heart disease are at higher risk of serious symptoms from COVID-19.

North Carolinians who have taken the updated vaccine are 18 times less likely to die from COVID-19, health officials say.

In addition to COVID-19, flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) also spread in the fall and winter months. Last fall, COVID-19, flu, and RSV spread widely at the same time. Flu and RSV can cause a respiratory infection that can lead to serious illness, particularly among older adults, young children, and people with medical issues such as diabetes.

If you have health insurance, most health insurance plans cover the COVID-19 vaccine at no cost. The state of North Carolina also received a limited supply of free vaccines for uninsured or underinsured adults. These vaccines are distributed to local health departments and community health centers.

It's important to understand your options to protect your health and your family, just as it's important to seek trusted guidance about your legal options if you've been injured in a car accident or other serious accident. Our attorneys at Hardison & Cochran are here to assist you.
