FORT WAYNE, IN, November 07, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- George Robert Davis has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than three decades of excellence in math and chemistry education, Mr. Davis has earned distinction as a high school chemistry teacher for South Side High School which is part of the Fort Wayne Community Schools. From 1957 until his retirement in 1996, he focused his efforts on helping his students understand core scientific concepts, guiding them to pursue chemistry education through college. His goal was to have his students say these three letters (OIC) meaning, Oh I See. He also sponsored the senior class, the Lettermen's Club, the Math-Science Club and the Cinderella Club for his school and was a coach for girls' track teams during his tenure. Among his professional accomplishments, he was named Teacher of the Year in 1994.

To prepare for his career in education, Mr. Davis earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and math from Hanover College in 1956. Following this achievement, he attained a Master of Arts in teaching chemistry and math from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1959.

Having discovered his passion for teaching when he himself was attending South Side, Mr. Davis was inspired by his high school chemistry instructor, who had been a part of the faculty for 38 years and was an original member of the school's teaching staff. Mr. Davis spent his career dedicated to getting his students engaged and passionate about chemistry and is proud of his accomplishments as an educator.

The chemistry lab is named "The George Davis Chemistry Lab." A chemistry-math scholarship in his honor along with his dad who was a math teacher at South Side is given to a deserving senior every year on Recognition Day. The student must have been outstanding in chemistry and math.
