NEW YORK, NY, November 08, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The independent consumer organization, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, launches their annual top awards today for the most outstanding toys of 2023 on their website, www.toyportfolio.com. Co-founder Stephanie Oppenheim will appear on NBC's TODAY Show on November 29, 2023.

"The toy industry is back" notes co-founder and child development expert, Stephanie Oppenheim. "After a few years of playing it safe, there is more creativity in all age groups and categories."

Trends to Watch:

Props for Pretend Play - Our testers loved so many of the new props for pretend play including a pizza oven, multi-level garages, and ski slopes.

Classics with a high-tech twist - Puzzles always make our award list, but this year we have a coded puzzle that allows you to create a puzzle based on a picture of you or someone famous (our testers picked Taylor Swift). We also had a Magic Kit from Penn & Teller that includes a VR component. The classic game Twister now has a high-tech version you play with an APP. It's not the same as the original -- but our testers loved it.

Crafts - The Very Hungry Caterpillar was a huge hit with our testers with a new collection of craft kits based on the beloved book. Our testers also gave high marks to kits for jewelry making, a tea set, and making a pet bowl.

Construction Kits - One of our favorite toys of the year is a ball run that kids build and is powered by air.

Diversity - Happy to see so many doll collections and construction sets feature a diverse range of boys and girls.

The Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Awards are given to the most outstanding and innovative products of the year. The independent consumer organization was co-founded in 1989 by child development experts Joanne and Stephanie Oppenheim. Other notable awards: the Gold Seal Award is given to highly recommended products; Blue Chip Award honors classic products; and the Special Needs Adaptable Product Award recognizes toys most appropriate for kids with special needs. Complete reviews of all winners are online at www.toyportfolio.com.
