Before transitioning to independent media, Mr. Aguilar found success working for some of the communications and marketing industry's leading companies, including San Antonio-based outlets for Fox Television and Clear Channel Communications. After developing an in-depth understanding of the specialized needs and challenges of mass media, Mr. Aguilar decided to pursue avenues for self-employment. In 2002, he established The West Side Sol, a media company publishing two community newspapers that offer local news, healthcare information, and advertising opportunities for area businesses. In 2015, The West Side Sol added an Overtime Sports Radio, a weekly slate of AM and FM radio programming hosted by Mr. Aguilar, to its portfolio.
