Luke Griffith, PhD Celebrated for Dedication to the Fields of History and Education

Dr. Luke Griffith channels years of expertise into his work at New Mexico Junior College

Luke Griffith is a lifelong student of history with a passion for teaching.

HOBBS, NM, November 14, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Luke Griffith has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A lifelong student of history with a passion for teaching, Dr. Griffith excels as a history and government professor at New Mexico Junior College, through which he specializes in U.S. history, Western Civilization, and the American government. Alongside his work as a professor, he is a faculty leader and adviser for the College's Film Club. Prior to joining New Mexico Junior College, Dr. Griffith worked for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Foundation and Institute as a visiting postdoctoral fellow and with RAND Corporation as a Stanton Nuclear Security Post-Doctoral Fellow.

During the early stages of his career, Dr. Griffith gained valuable expertise in education as an adjunct professor for Washington State Community College, the University of Rio Grande, and Rio Grande Community College. Throughout his career, he has contributed to opinion pieces such as "U.S. Should Continue Building Intermediate-Range Missiles" and "Taking the Bird in the Hand: Strike a Nuclear Weapons Deal with Russia." Likewise, he has contributed to a plethora of publications, including his forthcoming book with Cornell University Press, Unraveling the Gray Area Problem: The United States and the INF Treaty, and RAND'S report "Mitigating Challenges to U.S.-Russia Strategic Stability." An expert in his field, Dr. Griffith has also been interviewed by such notable public figures as Edwin Meese III, the former Secretary of State Ambassador George Shultz, the former Assistant Secretary of Defense Richard Perle, and Ambassador Richard Burt.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts in History with minors in political science, the Bible, and international studies from Cedarville University in 2010, Dr. Griffith expanded upon his professional knowledge by earning a Master of Arts and PhD in History from Ohio University, as well as a certificate in contemporary history from the University's Contemporary History Institute.

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Griffith aligns himself with the Society for Historians and American Foreign Relations and the American Historical Association. Outside of his work, he devotes himself to his community as a coach for the local youth sports team.

In light of his professional achievements, Dr. Griffith received the Baker Peace Fellowship from Ohio University in 2017 and was selected to participate in the Leadership Institute at New Mexico Junior College. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in writing his first book about the United States and the rise and fall of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, which he wrote during his tenure with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Foundation and Institute, RAND Corporation, and New Mexico Junior College.

Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Dr. Griffith credits his success to his wonderful mentors, Dr. Chester Pach from Ohio University, who taught him everything from writing and researching to applying for jobs and writing a book, and Dr. Karl Mueller at the RAND Corporation, who helped him expand upon his strengths as a historian. Within the coming years, he intends to experience his career's continued growth and success. Ultimately, Dr. Griffith intends to develop new courses and continue publishing with a focus on the history of U.S. policy toward the denuclearization of Ukraine.
