Joining the family business in 2019, Mr. Dowd serves as a vice president and account executive for The Dowd Insurance Agencies, specializing in commercial/business insurance. Attributing over 10 years of professional success to his role today, he began working in the field in 2013, shortly after graduating from college. Mr. Dowd is recognized as a fifth-generation employee of his organization, working alongside his brother, Jack Dowd.
The Dowd Insurance Agency was established in Holyoke, Massachusetts, in 1898 and has since become recognized as a long-lasting legacy as the state's oldest family-owned and operated insurance agency. Today, the agency has six locations. Mr. Dowd notably spends most of his time at the company headquarters in Holyoke, selling commercial/business insurance. He concentrates on educating clients and ensuring they have the necessary coverage to support their businesses, such as general liability, property, workers' compensation, and professional liability. Additionally, Mr. Dowd oversees various tasks related to information technology.
Mr. Dowd began his career in Boston as a sales associate at Consumer United, an insurance agency founded in 2007. He subsequently joined Safety Insurance as a property claims adjuster before becoming an underwriting assistant from 2016 to 2018. Mr. Dowd also found success with Quincy Mutual Group as an underwriting assistant in 2019.

Active in his community, Mr. Dowd has served on the young agents committee of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents since 2021. The committee is involved in charity work and fundraisers, including an annual golf tournament to support Make-a-Wish, yearly Toys for Tots events and events that support the local Boys and Girls Club. Mr. Dowd will soon be representing Massachusetts at its National Committee Leadership Conference. He will visit Michigan with all 49 other states to discuss various topics. He will serve as Vice-Chair of the young agents committee this upcoming year.
A collegiate football player and graduate of Bates College, Mr. Dowd received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 2013. Well-qualified in his industry, he received credentials as a licensed property and casualty insurance producer. Mr. Dowd is presently pursuing a chartered property casualty underwriter designation.
Mr. Dowd attributes his success to the support of his loved ones, particularly his father, who he considers a very reasonable person. Having his father by his side has greatly benefited his professional career and personal life. Additionally, Mr. Dowd is grateful for the continued support from individuals within the industry.
