Day to day, along with managing and overseeing her business as the chief executive officer, Ms. Diaz-Vegas handles all her clients' taxes and provides accounting, payroll, and other services. Prior to venturing into the tax world, she accrued professional experience in sales, where she honed the customer service skill set she still draws on today. During her time in this sector, Ms. Diaz-Vega took on the role of marketing manager for Freedom Tax Service with seven offices across the city and was eventually promoted to manage all seven stores.
Once the owner decided to pass along the business, Ms. Diaz-Vegas capitalized on the opportunity to become a business owner and make it her own. Since taking on ownership, she has since closed all locations but one to focus her efforts. In all she pursues, Ms. Diaz-Vega attributes her success to her love of helping others and to her ability to prioritize and deliver outstanding customer service. As a bilingual speaker of English and Spanish, she is able to communicate with a wide-range of clients and connect with them on an individual level in their first language.
To date, Ms. Diaz-Vega's most notable achievement is starting and owning her own business, which has given her the opportunity to not only be her own boss but to employ eight other women as well. Along with being a devoted business owner, she is also heavily involved with her community, regularly giving her time to her local church and volunteering for community service. In the next five years, Ms. Diaz-Vega plans to expand Freedom Tax Services by opening five additional offices across Albuquerque in order to reach and help more customers navigate the tax world.
