BROOKLYN PARK, MN, November 17, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James W. Ross has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Leveraging four decades in Metallurgical Engineering, James W. Ross has earned distinction in the field of Metallurgy providing expertise in numerous processes for heat treatments, casting, forging, welding, machining, electroplating, powdered metal, and coatings. For the past 20+ years, he has focused his efforts on creating and managing the Corporate Metallurgical Lab (CML) for TEAM industries. Concurrent with being the technical manager of the 3 company met labs for testing of material properties, the CML is a resource for all TEAM facilities to develop thermal treatments (including in-house Carburizing & Induction Hardening), Aluminum diecasting processes as well as the developing of the supply chain processes to ensure they are consistent and low risk. Additionally, along with technical analysis for internal product development, he works with suppliers to ensure all their metallurgical processes are effective, troubleshoots processes for components to detect quality issues and provides recommendations on how to remedy problems.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Ross began his career working through the University of Cincinnati's Co-op program with Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne's Spicer Axle Division as a Materials Analyst learning the lab testing techniques and process development. Upon graduation from the UC with a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering in 1987, he took the job as a Material Engineer in the same Dana Corporation lab designing and performing tests for new materials and process used in highway vehicles. Transferring in 1988 to another Dana facility in Plymouth Minnesota, James was promoted to Resident Engineer at the Spicer Off-Highway Axle Division where he was responsible as the Design Engineering liaison for the plant dealing with day-to-day manufacturing and assembly issues as well as the Product Launch Coordinator, BOM creator and product cost estimator. At this time James gained much of the Engineering and Product development experience with in-house heat treatments and supplier processes for a wide range of products and processes. Mr. Ross notably earned a Technical Achievement Award from the Dana Corporation in light of his co-authored paper which had a positive effect on the steel industry. He attributes much of his success to the guidance and inspiration of his mentors, who have supported him throughout his career. In this regard, Mr. Ross enjoys paying it forward and imparting knowledge to his colleagues and interns.

Outside of his primary efforts, Mr. Ross has lent his time to his community having served 20 years on the local Babe Ruth Baseball Board of Directors and coaching baseball, basketball, and soccer. He also taught religion classes for the youth at his church and continues to volunteer as needed. Likewise, to remain abreast of developments in his field, he is a member of ASM International (formerly known as American Society for Materials). Among the highlights of his career, Mr. Ross is gratified for the chance to develop systems at TEAM Industries that will combine the need for Metallurgical analysis of internally and externally sourced components to ensure quality with the need to ensure that the risks in the processes used to manufacture these components are identified and mitigated. This may involve auditing all of the processes back through manufacturing and the supply chain to the source of the material to identify all of the risk factors and periodic testing of final components to looks for trends in characteristics.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Ross aims to ensure that his vision and progress are sustainable in the long term. Ultimately, he endeavors to continue using and improving his ideas so others can enhance them, even after he has departed the company. To achieve this objective, he is determined to train as many colleagues as possible.
