Since 2010, he has focused his efforts on managing the business while advising his team. He also collaborates with the community, local governments, customers and suppliers to determine methods for efficient supply management. Additionally, he lent his expertise as an advisor to the Canadian Steel Trading Working Group for the Canadian Government. Prior to establishing his company, Mr. Rasmussen was a national stainless steel specialist with CCTF in 1993 and served as an account representative for Unified Alloys in 2002. Following this time, he started his own company and served as the president of Weifang Steel Canada Ltd. in 2003. He is also proud to have grown his company from $2 million in the first year of sales to $60 million less than five years later.
Before embarking on his professional journey, he completed coursework in business statistics from Camosun College. He is also a valued member of the National Association of Steel Pipe Distributors and an associate member of the Pipe Fabrication Institute of the United States.
Throughout his career, Mr. Rasmussen has given numerous speaking engagements. He was most recently featured in Bloomberg's 2021 piece "High steel prices have made the market challenging to operate in: Bri-Steel Manufacturing president." He has been featured in numerous works for BNN Bloomberg, including "Trade investigation subject: We don't even make that kind of steel" in 2018 and "Oil and gas industry should 'buy Canadian' for steel pipes: Bri-Steel president" in 2019.
Within the coming years, Mr. Rasmussen intends to grow his steel manufacturing company in the United States and Canada, having their facility up and running to provide more local jobs in his community. Having transitioned his company from a trading company to a stocking distribution company, he and his team decided to establish a manufacturing plant in 2011, with the second facility set to be operational in Enid, Oklahoma, in early 2024.
