Since 2023, he has focused his efforts on overseeing a team of contract specialists, reviewing and approving their work before he commits taxpayer dollars to any given requirement in government contracts. He has been able to facilitate contractual registration and trademarking of the commissary brands and has successfully mentored and trained numerous junior contract specialists. Additionally, he is a valued member of the Army Acquisition Corps and the National Contract Management Association.
Before his current role, Mr. Shingleton began his career as an inventory manager and management analyst for FEMA Mount Weather in 2004. Following this time, he served as a contract specialist for the Defense Commissary Agency in 2016 and was appointed a contracting officer in 2021. He took a similar role with the United States Army Corps of Engineers in 2022.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Shingleton earned a bachelor's degree in organizational management from Eastern College in 1999. Following this achievement, he attained a master's degree in risk crisis and disaster management from the University of Leicester in England in 2004. As an essential facet of his profession, he goes through a rigorous process of certification and training to become a contract specialist and ultimately a warranted contracting officer.
Within the coming years, Mr. Shingleton intends to retire to focus more of his efforts on community service. He will continue to work in contracts or logistics, but instead of working for the government, he will utilize his expertise as a consultant for a county, a municipality or local government.
