With more than two decades of excellence in nursing, Ms. Souders has earned distinction as a manager and surgical critical care nurse practitioner for the Medical College of Wisconsin. Since 2008, she has focused her efforts on serving the community while providing services as a clinical nurse practitioner. Additionally, she has served as a nurse practitioner for the tele-hospital of the Froedtert Health Medical Group since 2020. While developing her present roles, she served as a clinical faculty member for Marquette University in 2017.
Outside of her primary career efforts, Ms. Souders engages in philanthropic activities primarily through her association with Froedtert Hospital, participating in events that provide sponsorship to schools, teachers and daycares. She also volunteers her support with the Department of Veterans Affairs and unsheltered individuals.
Among her professional accomplishments, Ms. Souders was honored to represent the 2022 University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Executive Nursing Leadership at the Healthcare Policy Summit in Washington, DC. This summit addressed the pressing issue of the nursing shortage, emphasizing the critical role nurses play as advocates for their profession, and she stressed the importance of the government's involvement in this matter, highlighting that the public's well-being is at stake. Additionally, in 2023, she received an Educational Fellowship Award for her outstanding teaching advanced practice providing fellows and was named the Allied Healthcare Worker of the Year by the Medical College of Wisconsin for her exceptional contributions to resident education.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Souders earned a Bachelor of Applies Science in health care administration from Southern Illinois University in 1997. Following this achievement, she attained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing in 2002. She subsequently gained a Master of Science as a nurse practitioner for family practice from California State University, Fresno in 2007. Well-qualified in her field, she is also a board-certified family nurse practitioner with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Additionally, she is a valued member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, among other professional nursing organizations.
Looking to the future, Ms. Souders intends to complete a Doctor of Nursing Practice in nursing system leadership; nurse executive program from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in May 2024. This will enable her to assume additional leadership roles within healthcare organizations as a chief nursing officer or chief nursing executive. Her ultimate goal is to make a meaningful impact on the lives of both her local community and those within the healthcare field and is proud to have advanced the field of nursing executives amid the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape thus far. She plans to further the development of national health policies, with a focus on safeguarding the interests of healthcare providers and establishing robust systems that promote their well-being, enabling them to deliver high-quality care to the nation's population.
