Since 2010, her nonprofit organization has focused on providing clean water education, economic empowerment, health care, nutritional support, and various essential social welfare activities.

    NEW YORK, NY, November 29, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jamel Patterson, MD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Patterson is a retired physician who specialized in emergency medicine at Harlem Hospital from 1993 to 2015, providing vital emergency care to stabilize patients and enable a smooth transition to a suitable point of care either in the hospital or at home, she enjoyed playing a critical role in their well-being. Prior to her emergency medicine training, she trained in internal medicine. Additionally, she garnered success as an educator, teaching residents, medical students, and nursing students in the role of attending physicians.

In retirement, Dr. Patterson has focused her time on charitable work as the president of Ageno Foundation International Inc. which she started with two friends after her visit to Uganda. Making a substantial contribution to communities throughout Eastern Africa and the Caribbean since 2010, her nonprofit organization has focused on providing clean water education, economic empowerment, health care, nutritional support, and various essential social welfare activities. Since its founding, Ageno Foundation has provided access to clean water to over 500,000 people, has facilitated educational opportunities for hundreds of students to study in Uganda, Malawi, and Kenya, Hatai and Jamaica. She has provided critical materials and financial support to those in need, and among other achievements, has conducted training programs benefiting the youth in Uganda and providing them with valuable skills from sanitary needs and other necessities. In Kenya and Uganda, Ageno Foundation has also begun farming, poultry raising, baking, allowing them to achieve financial independence. Notably, "Ageno" translates to "I have faith" in the Luo language, spoken throughout Uganda and neighboring countries. Looking toward future goals for her organization, Dr. Patterson has a vision to expand the reach of Ageno Foundation International Inc. globally to other countries in the years to come.

Besides her contributions to the Ageno Foundation International Inc., Dr. Patterson has been trained as a chaplain and has joined with other chaplains to volunteer in her community. She is a member of the board of the College of Prayer, an international organization involved in over 170 countries that train leaders. She actively works with like-minded individuals throughout Rockland County.

Highly educated, Dr. Patterson received a bachelor's degree in biology in 1977, a Master of Science in cell biology from Long Island University in 1984, and a Doctor of Medicine from Boston University in 1988, followed by a residency at Harlem Hospital Center, and Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center. Additionally, she received a Master of Public Health from Columbia University in 2001.

Considering her accomplishments, Dr. Patterson received a Recognition Award for Teaching Excellence in 1988. As the founder of Ageno Foundation International Inc., she received an accolade from the Haitian community for her efforts. These efforts included her organization's involvement in Haiti under the leadership of Dr. Holson, who maintained a health care clinic in the country, and championing educational opportunities for children, and supporting various other organizations. Grateful for her accomplishments, Dr. Patterson believes that her skills, her medical expertise, and passion for providing quality of life for others have played a significant role in her success.
