During the early stages of her career, Ms. Canawati gained valuable expertise in financial management and analysis with Diyar Consortium, an Evangelical Lutheran-based nongovernmental organization in Palestine and Catholic Relief Services in JWBG. An expert in her field, she earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a minor in marketing from Bethlehem University in Palestine in 1998. Subsequently, Ms. Canawati expanded her professional knowledge, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and a Master of Arts in Regional Development, Planning, and Management from Universitat Dortmund in Germany.
Alongside her work, Ms. Canawati contributes to her community through Florida International University's College of Business, where she serves as the program adviser for the Women in Leadership Program. While her career has been filled with standout moments, she is most proud of having her master's degree research published in libraries in the Philippines, establishing herself as a problem-solver and reliable team member in her field, and updating the financial manual and standard operating procedures for the International Rescue Committee.
