HIGHLAND, IL, December 08, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mark Rosen has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Driven by his pride for the City of Highland, Mr. Rosen began working for the city as a Red Cross Swim Lesson Aide in the Parks and Recreation Department in 1982. Nearly 15 years later, he became the city's Director of Parks and Recreation, becoming a Certified Park and Recreation Professional some years later. In this capacity, he oversees seven full time and 150 part-time employees, a 42,000-square-foot recreation center, a 10,000-square-foot community center, and 180 acres of green space, which includes 30 acres of the city's cemetery, seven parks, and an outdoor pool. Similarly, Mr. Rosen implements tailored features and countless programs for each park and has accomplished his goal of building at least one new playground in each park since 1996.

Mr. Rosen raised over $150,000 for Dennis H. Rinderer Park's All-Abilities playground project in less than one year by utilizing a yearly county grant, community donations, and a $30,000 Disney grant. Overall, he obtained nearly $210,000 for the project. In recent years, he also secured the $45,000 Hometown Grant from T-Mobile, which resulted in savings for the City.

An expert in his field, Mr. Rosen earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. Over the years, he has also completed coursework at Indiana University Southeast. Alongside his work, he is aligned with The Highland Optimist Club and the Highland Moose Lodge 2479. Likewise, Mr. Rosen has contributed to his community through St. Paul Catholic Church, the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Highland Area Community Foundation, the Madison County Park and Recreation Grant Commission, and the Highland Healthcare Advisory Board.

In light of his professional achievements, Mr. Rosen was awarded a baseball scholarship to play at Indiana University Southeast. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in working alongside the city's public works department to address the preservation of the city's 550-acre reservoir, Silver Lake. Through the EPA 319 grant, he helped reduce runoff and conserve topsoil for agricultural purposes in the lake's 35,000 acre watershed. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his staff's support and the endorsement of several leaders in the community. Looking ahead, Mr. Rosen aims to explore a variety of opportunities and hobbies before he plans on retiring in May 2025.
