Francisco Sotillo, PhD, has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

    LAKELAND, FL, December 12, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Francisco Sotillo, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. With more than four decades of excellence as a professional engineer in metallurgy, Dr. Sotillo has earned distinction as the president of PerUsa EnviroMet, Inc. Having been the vice president since 1995, since 2008 he has focused his efforts on developing green and brown field projects as well as conducting economic evaluations and feasibility studies. He develops chemicals for client companies and oversees the chemical aspects of the business. Additionally, he is a valued member of the Mining and Metallurgical Society of America and the metallurgical chapter of the Professional Institute of Engineers of Peru.

Before his present role, Dr. Sotillo began his career as a foreman and plant metallurgist for the Buenaventura Mining Company S.A. in 1977 and was promoted to a mill superintendent in 1978. He was further promoted to a principal investigator for the metallurgical research department for Buenaventura Engineers S. A. in 1985. Following this time, he was an independent consultant in 1989 and served as a research engineer for ArrMaz from 2004 until 2008. He also was a post-doctoral researcher with the University of California, Berkeley in 1995. Alongside his professional career, he lent his expertise as an assistant professor for the mining department of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru from 1986 to 1989 and was an associate professor for the graduate division of the National University of Engineering in Peru in 1989.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sotillo has also contributed a wealth of written works to professional journals, publications and conference proceedings. He most recently authored the paper "Improving the Economics and Market for Sechura Phosphate Rock: Characterization Studies" for Revista Minería of the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers" in April 2023. In 2012, Dr. Sotillo authored the chapter "Exploring the Use of Rheology in the Phosphate Industry" within "Beneficiation of Phosphates: New Thought, New Technology, New Development," which was published by the Society for Mining and Exploration, Inc. He also holds several patents, including for a "Pyrite Depressant Useful in Flotation Separation," a "Method of Reducing Phosphate Ore Losses in a Desliming Process" and a "Froth Flotation Process with pH Modification." Added to these, he lent his expertise as a keynote speaker to the 8th Jordanian International Mining Conference in 2017.

Among his professional accomplishments, Dr. Sotillo was honored with the Peruvian Mining Award from the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru in 1986 and received The Bronze Crucible from National University Jorge Basadre Grohmann in 1995. He was also awarded a Keynote Speaker and Lecturer Award from the Jordan Engineers Association in 2017.

To prepare for his professional journey, Dr. Sotillo earned a bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering from Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería in Lima, Peru in 1977. Following this achievement, he attained a master's degree in materials science and mineral engineering in 1985 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1995, both from the University of California, Berkeley. Well-qualified in his field, he is a qualified professional certified by the Mining and Metallurgical Society of America and a certified metallurgical engineer and professional engineer by the Colegio de Ingenieros del Peru.

Looking to the future, Dr. Sotillo intends to continue his work as a consultant in the field, bringing his expertise to a variety of projects and prototypes.
