LOS ANGELES, CA, December 19, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nasreen Haroon is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are chosen from among a pool of the most prominent professionals and are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Haroon has built a multifaceted career as a celebrated artist and the namesake of Nasreen Haroon Collections, and her paintings have been selected for exhibition in international galleries, civic centers and embassies.

Inspired by a high school teacher, she developed an interest in oil painting as a child and subsequently, she relied on her father's mentorship and encouragement to persist in her artistic pursuits.

A native of Pakistan, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, philosophy and history from St. Joseph's College for Women in Karachi in 1972 and subsequently immigrated to the United States in 1980, after which Ms. Haroon enjoyed a productive, long-term partnership with Shangri-La Hotel in Santa Monica as a design consultant between 1983 and 1992.

Ms. Haroon has solidified a global presence through her art and deep engagement on platforms related to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity and acceptance. She has deployed her broad expertise in applied arts and communicated openly about her own interfaith life experiences across various contexts. She was appointed Cultural Envoy on two different occasions, to the United Arab Emirates as well as to Algeria by the US Department of State. In the UAE, the American Embassy hosted an exhibition of 24 of her landscape paintings and she held Master Classes in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. During broad travel in Algiers, Ms. Haroon accepted interviews to discuss her work with the Art in Embassies program, led children's art workshops, participated in roundtable discussions at local art galleries and gave dynamic presentations at the Museum of Fine Arts, the United States Embassy and Ecole de Beaux Arts. At each event, Ms. Haroon was proud to interact with youth, university students and faculty, and the broader community and gratified to have coordinated the painting of a mural at a local NGO for battered women and children, which she counts as a career highlight.

Outreach has proven critical to Ms. Haroon's professional profile, thus she has participated in television events to showcase her individual pursuits as well as the diversity of the U.S. population, all while promoting programs that support the intersection of the arts and youth. She has dedicated focused energy to diverse organizations, including as a co-chair of the Muslim-Jewish Dialogue and as the vice president of Pakistan Arts Council of the Pacific Asia Museum, now the USC Pacific Asia Museum, during the 1990's. She was a founding member of DIL, Development of Literacy. Ms. Haroon also proudly held a seat on the board of directors of the Islamic Center of Southern California between 1999 and 2002, and she sat on the board of directors of Cornerstone Theater Productions Company. She was also an interfaith Chaplain at Santa Monica Hospital in Santa Monica.

She earned a Trailblazer Award from NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change. A Distinguished Artist Award from the Pakistan Arts Council of the USC Pacific Asia Museum, a Wow Women's Award from the Pakistani American Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Haroon has also been included in Marquis Who's Who in America, 2002–2009, numerous compilations of Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who in the World. Notably, she was also decorated with a Marquis Who's Who Humanitarian Award and the prestigious Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ms. Haroon attributes her success to a desire to reach individuals through her work and her lectures and a commitment to not ask for anything in return for her contributions. Looking toward the future, Ms. Haroon is eager to continue developing her craft through various artistic media and to enjoy extended opportunities to function as a cultural ambassador.
