An accomplished listee, Mr. Sorett celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Sorett is Senior Counsel with Kutak Rock LLP, a premier law firm with offices throughout the country serving the commercial and governmental sectors in business and corporate, public finance, litigation, and real estate law. Based in Naples, Florida, he is part of a team specializing in government contracts and grants. Mr. Sorett also has a background in environmental law as a former assistant general counsel for grants with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and directed the government contracts and environmental policy programs at his alma mater, The George Washington University. Additionally, Mr. Sorett excels in public-private partnerships, outsourcing, privatization, and other areas of the law. Leveraging more than 50 years of experience in his field, he focuses on providing clients with exceptional service based on their unique needs.

Before joining Kutak Rock, Mr. Sorett was a partner at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP that merged into Dentons a leading global law firm in the Washington, D.C., area from 2005 to 2015. He also served as the director of the government contracts practice at an advisory, audit, and tax firm, was a general counsel for two defense contractors, and was the vice president of contracts for an infrastructure-based company. Civically invested, Mr. Sorett has been active on the board of Vineyards Community Association and the board of directors of Avellino Isles Condominium Association where he served as President. He held similar positions while living in Maryland for over 40 years including being President of the Luxmanor Citizens Association.

Mr. Sorett chose to pursue a career in law because he wanted a career that would allow him flexibility. He also believed that a robust understanding of the legal system would benefit him should he choose to work in other fields outside of law. In preparation for his career, Mr. Sorett received an undergraduate degree from the prestigious Yale University in American/U.S. studies and civilization, with honors, in 1971 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence with a concentration in government contract law from The George Washington University in 1976. He has been admitted to practice by the Washington, D.C., and Maryland Bar Association as well as several federal courts including the Supreme Court of the United States.

While in law school, Mr. Sorett notably made several significant accomplishments. Among them, he co-directed a clinical program, Operation PEP (Protection for Elderly People), at The George Washington University, which provided legal services to the Adams Morgan area in Washington, D.C., a neighborhood with moderate to low income that helped individuals navigate the various federal and local programs that were available to them. Later in his career he also served as the Curriculum Director for its environmental law and public policy program.

Mr. Sorett is a co-chair of the American Bar Association's public-private partnership committee and a member and former chair of the grant law committees for the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. He also co-founded the National Council for Public-Private Partnerships in 1984, a leading trade association that brings together professionals from the public and private sectors.
