EASTON, MD, January 05, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to announce the inclusion of Robert M. Quinn, PhD and Founder of Kamut International Ltd in the prestigious Marquis Who's Who (MWW) individual profile list. As in all their biographical volumes, the publishers' individual profiles are selected based on the current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishment, visibility and prominence in a field are considered during the selection process.

Bob Quinn, a progressive farmer from North Central Montana, has been at the forefront of regenerative organic agriculture since 1983 with the establishment of Montana Flour & Grains. In 1986 he founded Kamut International which evolved into a commitment to the philosophy of "food as medicine" to promote good health and prevent and treat diet-related chronic diseases.

In the 1970s, Quinn earned a BS in botany and a MS in Plant Pathology from Montana State University and received a PhD in plant biochemistry from the University of California at Davis. After selling his business interests in California, he moved back to the 2,400-acre family-owned and operated dry land wheat and cattle ranch SE of Big Sandy, Montana, that his grandfather started in 1920. From 1986 to 1988, he converted the entire farm to a regenerative certified organic operation and slowly increased the size of the farm to 4,000 acres. He discovered that he could produce successful yields without pesticides through time-tested practices like cover cropping and crop rotation. He also experimented with growing fruits and vegetables in cold, dry Montana without irrigation, providing a source of local produce to families in his hometown.

Quinn's farm has served as a working laboratory to test, document and share his findings with farmers and thought leaders from the organic movement in the US and around the world. He helped organize and presided over the First International Conference of Landraces for Healthy Food System (http://wheat-landraces.ifoam.bio) in Bologna, in the summer of 2018.

His renewable farming experience led him to involvement in renewable energy. In 2000 he formed WindPark Solutions America with friends and a cousin from Germany which was responsible for Montana's first wind farm of 95 wind turbines. With his Oil Barn business, started in 2015, he was able to crush the organic safflower grown on his farm to extract the oil, which after being used as cooking oil was return to the farm to be cleaned and used to fuel his tractor as straight vegetable oil.

He learned in the late 1980's that a grain he first saw at the county fair in his youth was actually a type of ancient wheat that could be tolerated by most of those with gluten sensitivities.

Subsequent research sponsored by Bob Quinn's family company, Kamut International, resulted in 35 peer-reviewed publications describing the results of human clinical trials comparing the effect of ancient and modern wheat on those suffering from various chronic diseases. These results lead to Quinn's conviction of the connection between food and health and the importance of good seeds and healthy soils to produce foods that help nourish people, prevent disease, mediate the effects of chronic disease, and boost the energy and vitality of the body. Over the last 40 years, his discoveries of the health benefits of Kamut brand ancient wheat combined with its great taste, texture and aroma, propelled this grain into markets throughout the world as a part of a multimillion-dollar heirloom grain project.

In 2019, Quinn launched his first book, Grain by Grain: A Quest to Revive Ancient Wheat, Rural Jobs, and Healthy Food, with co-author Liz Carlisle. In the book he shares a lifetime of experiences, innovation and the establishment of small successful businesses as well as the conversion of his farm to organic. In all his business interests, Quinn's basic philosophy is that "everyone wins." He treats customers and suppliers as friends, family and as an essential part of the success of each business endeavor.

Certain that his retirement in 2022 was only a transition into other passions of his, Quinn's focus now is creating an 800-acre regenerative organic research, education, and health institute in the middle of his farm that will be called the Quinn Institute, healing the earth by growing food as medicine. Its mission is to scale up the number of successful regenerative organic producers growing nutrient-dense food to improve the health of people and our planet.

Quinn is active in his church and local community. He served on the local school board, is a member and past president of the local Rotary Club and has served on advisory councils for the local schools, county extension, and university experiment station and USDA research committees. He is 75 and has been married for 52 years. He and his wife, Ann, have four daughters, one son and 20 grandchildren.
