EL DORADO, AR, January 16, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wyatt Winkenwerder has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Winkenwerder is an experienced principal research engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the chemicals industry. Currently, he holds the role of senior pilot plant engineer at LANXESS Americas. Prior to stepping into his current position, Dr. Winkenwerder grew up in Shiner, Texas, a community steeped in ranching and farming traditions. Coming from humble roots, he went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering in 2004 and then with a Doctor of Philosophy in chemical engineering in 2008.

While pursuing his doctorate, Dr. Winkenwerder served as a graduate research assistant for nearly five years and was a member of Prof. John D. Ekerdt's research group, through which he explored micro-electronic materials, with a focus on the chemistry of growing films and nanoparticles on surfaces. From that exposure, his work, specifically, involved studying the surface chemistry of different oxides to facilitate nanoparticle growth. Ultimately, Prof. Ekerdt's mentorship not only guided Dr. Winkenwerder's own research but also taught him how to effectively communicate highly technical information to diverse audiences, which has influenced and shaped his presentation skills.

Working to apply his doctorate and expertise, Dr. Winkenwerder joined Akzo Nobel Surface Chemistry LLC, now Nouryon, as a research engineer upon graduating. While contributing to the company for over a decade in various upper-level roles, including as a senior research engineer, principal research engineer, and scientist, he co-created three patents. Following his extensive experience and contributions there, he joined LANXESS Americas in 2019.

To date, Dr. Winkenwerder regards his ongoing accomplishments at LANXESS Americas as one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in his 15-year career in product research. He and his team have successfully transitioned a project from laboratory scale to pilot plant scale, a feat that demonstrates extensive knowledge, collaborative teamwork, and adept troubleshooting skills. Recalling his previous role at Akzo Nobel Surface Chemistry, Dr. Winkenwerder cites the opportunity he undertook to collaborate with engineering doctoral students at Eindhoven Technical University in the Netherlands as a career highlight.

Serving as their industrial supervisor, Dr. Winkenwerder found deep satisfaction in witnessing the students' progress through their research and the eventual publication of their papers, which he co-authored. In all he has pursued and accomplished thus far in his career, he demonstrates a remarkable capacity for adapting within the dynamic realm of research and development where uncertainties and unknowns abound. In the face of challenges and unexpected outcomes, Dr. Winkenwerder exhibits a keen ability to learn from these experiences, apply his acquired knowledge, and transition to the next phase of a project.

Outside of his main career focus and involvement, Dr. Winkenwerder serves as a board member of LANXESS Americas Representatives through the South Arkansas Community College Foundation. Moreover, he is a member and deacon at Hillsboro St. Church of Christ; devotes his time to U-Lead, a civic leadership program facilitated by the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce; and serves as a local cubmaster for the El Dorado Cub Scout Pack through the Boy Scouts of America, among other civic engagements.

Continuing on in the chemical field, and in his role at LANXESS Americas, Dr. Winkenwerder aspires to evolve into a recognized content expert. Already with his demonstrated expertise and leadership, he desires to grow further into an individual others regularly turn to for discussions on and solutions for challenging problems. In working toward this goal, Dr. Winkenwerder aims to continually enhance his global profile within the company in order to solidify his reputation as an influential figure who can tackle complex technical issues.
