Subsequently, he expanded upon his professional knowledge, earning a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from George Mason University, a JD from the University of Illinois, Chicago's School of Law, and a certificate in military and veteran health, law, and advocacy from William & Mary Law School.
A proud Greek man, Mr. Photiou consistently raises funds for the National Hellenic Museum in Chicago and various other Greek organizations. For his military achievements, he has been honored with a Combat Action Ribbon, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, a National Defense Service Ribbon, a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (Iraq). Mr. Photiou also had the privilege of leading Iraqi police forces and contributing to the security efforts during the first Iraqi election.
