WILMINGTON, DE, February 15, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Monica A. Coleman has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A seasoned business coach and educator, Dr. Coleman excels as the co-founder of the Academic Business and Branding Braintrust, a community for Black women in academia who want to share their knowledge with the world. Similarly, she serves as a professor of Africana studies and as the director of graduate studies for the University of Delaware, through which she maintains research interests in African American religions, Black and womanist theologies, theories of religious pluralism, and the crossroads of mental health and faith. Due to her vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. Coleman has also served as a speaker on religion and mental health for Inner Prizes, Inc. since 1997.

Over the years, Dr. Coleman has gained valuable expertise in the field in teaching and administrative roles with the University of Delaware, the Claremont School of Theology, the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, and Bennett College. Dedicated to serving as a voice for the voiceless, she also advocates against domestic and sexual violence through Ujima House and The Dinah Project. Dr. Coleman has leveraged her considerable expertise as an author many times throughout her career, authoring such works as "Bipolar Faith: A Black Womanist Journey with Depression and Faith," "Not Alone: Reflections on Faith and Depression," "Making a Way Out of No Way: A Womanist Theology," and "The Dinah Project: A Handbook for Congregational Response to Sexual Violence."

An expert in her field, Dr. Coleman holds a Bachelor of Arts in African-American studies from Harvard and a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University. Subsequently, she expanded her professional knowledge, earning a PhD in philosophy, religion, and theology from Claremont Graduate University, a women's entrepreneurship certificate from Cornell University, and a certificate in religion, gender, and sexuality from Vanderbilt University's Divinity School. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Coleman aligns herself with the American Academy of Religion, the Society for the Study of Black Religion, and the Institute for American Religious and Philosophical Thought.

In conjunction with her work, Dr. Coleman devotes herself to her community as co-president of the board of directors at the animal advocacy non-profit CreatureKind. Throughout her career, she has been honored many times, earning a Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowship and the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship and becoming the John and Patricia Cochran Scholar for Inclusive Excellence at University of Delaware. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in her latest book, "Bipolar Faith: A Black Womanist Journey with Depression and Faith." Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to the support of her parents. In the coming years, Dr. Coleman intends to expand her work with Inner Prizes, Inc., continue her work with the Academic Business and Branding Braintrust, and make academic content accessible to a wider audience.
