A leader in the banking industry for 40 years, Patrick Ryan joined Keefe, Bruyette & Woods in 2008 as a senior equity sales trader and managing director. As an institutional equity trading expert, he has leveraged his many years of experience to his success, having garnered a diverse client base that includes large asset managers, mutual funds, pension funds, passive funds, and hedge funds. Moreover, Mr. Ryan has been exposed to various investment products and strategies, capital markets, portfolio management, research sales, electronic trading, innovative technology, and cross-selling opportunities providing him with the tools to deliver strong execution results.
Prior to joining KBW, Mr. Ryan was a senior equity sales trader with JP Morgan for 15 years from 1993 to 2008. Recognized as one of the first equity traders hired by the firm to establish its equity trading business, Patrick rose to the distinguished position of managing director. Being among the first equity traders to achieve this level of success in the organization is one of Mr. Ryan's proudest moments. During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Ryan was employed by Deutsche Bank and C.J. Lawrence as an equity sales trader and senior vice president between 1984 and 1992.
Civically active, Mr. Ryan supports various causes such as The Children's Hope Chest, a Harrison, NY non-profit organization that empowers and offers hope to disadvantaged children and their families through many programs. He also supports My Sisters Place, a White Plains, NY non-profit that provides assistance to victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. Other charitable support includes the Wounded Warrior Project and several Westchester, NY PBA organizations.
Highly educated, Mr. Ryan graduated from Saint Michael's College in 1982 with a B.A. in Business Administration. He received his Master's in Business Administration from Clarkson University in 1983, attending on a full scholarship. Well qualified in his industry, Mr. Ryan holds FINRA securities licenses for the Series 7, 55, 57, 63, and 66. Additionally, he has been a member of the Securities Traders Association of New York and its affiliates.
Reflecting on his accomplishments, Mr. Ryan notes that his strong work ethic, character, leadership, and relationship management skills were shaped by his upbringing as the son of a very successful Wall Street trader, John Ryan. Mr. Ryan's older brother, John Jr, was also a successful Wall Street trader who sadly passed away during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Following in their footsteps has been an honor and inspiration for Patrick.
Mr. Ryan currently lives in Harrison, NY with his wife and top supporter Valerie, and has two children, Connor 28 and Lauren 25.
