After earning a Bachelor of Science in French with a minor in English from Savannah State College, Dr. King began his career in education, teaching French to elementary, middle, and high school students. Subsequently, he dedicated himself to his country through the U.S. Air Force between 1969 and 1973. Upon returning to civilian life, Dr. King furthered his education by completing a Master of Education from Georgia Southern University, a joint master's degree program through Savannah State University and Armstrong State University.
As he approached retirement, Dr. King obtained an EdD from the Business University of Costa Rica in 2002. Backed by his extensive education, he joined the Chatham County Board of Public Education as an elementary school principal. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he aligns himself with several industry organizations, including the Foreign Language Club.

Despite these achievements, he states, "A person can be considered great, but if their greatness cannot be shared and used to help those who may not have had the same opportunities, then it diminishes the impact of their achievements." Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his perseverance and strong support system. In the next five to ten years, Dr. King intends to ensure that his grandchildren receive a good education and learn to be self-sufficient while publishing a book about his life.
