An expert in his field, Mr. Ward holds a master's degree in chemical oceanography from the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science. In conjunction with his work, he contributes to the Oregon Environmental Laboratory Association on the board of directors. Previously, he was the administrator of Oregon's Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program between 2011 and 2017. While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Ward takes the most pride in creating analytical test methods and designing a Quality Assurance program for the Environmental Protection Agency in 1987. Other standout moments in his life include developing the data J Flag, which he named after his son, and traveling to China to help prepare the drinking water for the athletes in the Beijing Olympics. Mr. Ward has also authored more than 150 scientific publications and helped write the first Pacific test requirements for marijuana. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his passion and intelligence. Married for over 50 years, Mr. Ward and his wife have raised three wonderful children; one son excels as VP in business, the other is Hospital Supervisor at a major hospital in Washington, and his daughter has a PhD in pharmacy and is a pharmacy manager.
