Marquis Who's Who Selects Michael P. Kessler for Expertise in Forensic Science, Forensic Intelligence, and Law Enforcement

    FRISCO, TX, February 29, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael P. Kessler has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Dedicated to investigations and forensic science, Mr. Kessler has been affiliated with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) since 2016, initially as a member of its Crime Scene Investigation Subcommittee of its Organization of Scientific Area Committees for Forensic Science. Since 2023, he has been active as the Chair of its Scene Examination Scientific Area Committee and a member of its Forensic Science Standards Board. Mr. Kessler has also been employed by the Denton Police Department in Denton, Texas, since 2021, where he is the Forensics Manager responsible for the effective direction, coordination, and management of all forensics functions of the department. Moreover, he has found success as the Director of Crime Scene Investigation and Reconstruction for Forensic Veterinary Investigations LLC since 2022, providing consultation surrounding veterinary forensic investigations.

Drawing a sense of fulfillment in forensic science, Mr. Kessler has been able to marry his passion for investigations with science. Dedicated to making a difference, he is also committed to advancing science in the pursuit of justice. His extensive background in law enforcement began while in school as a Seasonal Corrections Officer. He then worked as a Deputy for the Hampden County Sherrif's Department, as a Police Officer for the Leverett Police Department, as a Crime Scene Specialist for the Austin Police Department, as an Investigator for Santa Fe County, as a Trooper Sergeant for the New Mexico Mounted Patrol, and as a Special Agent for the New Mexico Office of the Inspector General. Mr. Kessler subsequently pivoted into the forensic intelligence aspect of the field as a Forensic Scientist, Team Lead, Laboratory Manager, Site Exploitation Instructor, Research Program Manager, and Research and Development Chief for Biometrics and Forensics, and continually progressed.

Besides his full-time work in the field, Mr. Kessler has been an adjunct lecturer in the Global Forensic and Justice Center at Florida International University since 2019 and a lecturer for Gap Science LLC since 2022. He formerly garnered success as a Forensics and Program Manager at Florida International University from 2017 to 2021, where he notably co-authored a handbook, "Five Eyes Forensics and Technical Exploitation Handbook," a comprehensive guide utilized globally that serves as a resource for the development of policies, operations, and training materials for military, law enforcement, and other organizations. Mr. Kessler also serves on several peer-reviewed journals in editorial capacities and has authored several peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and the text "Report for Crime Scene Investigators."

Active civically, Mr. Kessler has been the Cubmaster for Pack 290 of the Boy Scouts of America in Frisco, Texas, since 2023. He was the Assistant Cubmaster for the pack from 2022 to 2023. Mr. Kessler also coached the Dallas Stars at the Pre-Hockey and Hockey Academy, a twice-weekly program, from 2018 to 2022. Further he serves his church as a Personal Protection Officer had has been Commissioned since 2018.

Mr. Kessler is highly educated, having earned an Associate of Science in criminal justice from Holyoke Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a concentration in forensics from The American Public University, and a Professional Science Master's in Forensic Science from Florida International University, as well as credentials as a Certified Crime Scene Analyst and Certified Basic Property/Evidence Technician.

Adding to Mr. Kessler's qualifications, he is an elected fellow of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, a member of the Organization of Scientific Area Committees for Forensic Science, and a life member and treasurer of the Texas division of the International Association for Identification. He also serves as the President and Treasurer of the TDIAI Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity. Additionally, Mr. Kessler has been serving the American Academy of Forensic Sciences since 2020, where he most notably established a Consensus Body focused on Crime Scene Investigation within the Academy Standards Board.

Recognizing his achievements, Mr. Kessler has received several accolades from the City of Austin Police Department and the City of Denton Police Department, won the Good of the Association Award from the Texas division of the International Association for Identification, and, among other honors, received a Distinguished Group Service Award from NIST in 2020.
