Passionate about her work, she is an experienced tax lawyer who also serves as the co-chair of the firm's public finance practice area. Drawing on over two decades of success in the legal realm, Ms. Brown concentrates her practice with a particular emphasis on the federal tax treatment of tax-exempt bond financings, in which she assists her governmental clients in the tax structuring of governmental and private activity bond transactions. Sharon has served as bond counsel, underwriters' counsel, special-tax counsel, and borrower's counsel on a wide variety of public finance transactions, including single and multi-family housing, power and energy, 501(c)(3) financings for higher education, health care and cultural institutions, and general obligation bond and note issues for infrastructure projects for cities, towns, villages and school districts across New York State.

In addition to her time at the office, she has served as a federal income tax adjunct professor at Monroe College from 2018 to 2020 and an adjunct professor at New York Law School since 2020.

Looking toward future success, Ms. Brown envisions continued growth and commitment to the field of law as she progresses in her career as an established attorney. Ms. Brown prepared for her career by obtaining a Bachelor of Science from Northeastern University in 1993, a Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School in 1998, a Master of Science in Taxation, with high distinction, from Long Island University in 2010, and a Masters of Law in Taxation from New York Law School in 2013. She has been admitted to practice in the State of New York, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Tax Court.

Contributory to her ongoing success, Ms. Brown remains aware of developments in her field as a member of several prominent professional organizations. Among them, she is active with the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the New York State Association for Affordable Housing, the New York State Government Finance Officers Association, the National Association of Women Lawyers, and the Women in Housing and Finance Inc. Ms. Brown has also been highly active as a New York State Bar Association Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion member and events subcommittee chair; Task Force on Racism, Social Equity and the Law, member and co-chair; and Women in Law Section, executive board member and co-chair of the awards committee.

As a testament to her success, Ms. Brown has been listed in several prominent legal publications, including as a listee in Law360 among the Influential Women in Tax Law in 2019, in National Black Lawyers every year since 2020, and in Best Lawyers in America for 2023-2024. Additionally, Ms. Brown received a Trailblazing Women in Public Finance Award from The Bond Buyer in 2018, was an Empire State Council Honoree by the New York State Bar Association in 2019, was elected as a fellow of the American Bar Foundation in 2022, and was recognized in City & State New York inaugural Who's Who in Budgeting and Finance in February 2024.
