James R. Holland shared his professional achievements and industry expertise in Fortune magazine



He is a lifetime member of the Friends of the Beverly Hills Public Library, the Boston Athenaeum, the Air and Military Museum of the Ozarks and the Dickerson Park Zoo.

    BOSTON, MA, March 01, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James R. Holland, real estate company officer with A Bit of Boston, was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the Eastern Massachusetts regional edition of Fortune magazine.

With more than 50 years of industry experience, Mr. Holland has excelled as the president of A Bit of Boston Real Estate, Inc. since 1982. As a young filmmaker living in Boston, he wound up buying a Brownstone and found a quick trend in his buying habits, leading him to eventually attain a real estate broker license and flourish in an evergreen career.

Prior, Mr. Holland was a real estate broker for Street & Company from 1978 to 1982, as well as both real estate developer and president for Brownstone Properties, Inc. from 1975 to 1977. In the earlier years of his career, he had served the Christian Science Center in Boston as a film producer from 1969 to 1974. With the National Geographic Society, he was a photography intern in 1966 and a contract photographer for its magazine from 1967 to 1968.

Alongside his dedication as a realtor, Mr. Holland has also served as a columnist and movie critic for nearly 10 years. Furthermore, he has authored countless award-winning photography books and his film work has been broadcast on NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, BBC and the Travel Channel. Some works to his credit include, "Politics: Puns and Parody" in 2010, "Boston's Notable Addresses: Historic Homes and the Residents That Made Them So" in 2011, "Seeking God: The Religious Paintings of William O'Keefe," and "Thirteen Scribbles and a Scratch."

Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Holland has participated in numerous endeavors in his community, having contributed to the Small Property Owners Association since 2000, the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay since 1972 and the Boston Home and Property Owners Association. Among other roles, Mr. Holland was on the 10th Anniversary Committee for the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University.

Mr. Holland remains affiliated with various organizations, including the Griffin Museum of Photography, Photographic Resource Center at Boston University, National Press Photographers Association and American Society of Media Photographers. He is a lifetime member of the Friends of the Beverly Hills Public Library, the Boston Athenaeum, the Air and Military Museum of the Ozarks and the Dickerson Park Zoo.

After completing coursework at Principia College, Mr. Holland joined Ohio University in 1966, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He went on to conduct postgraduate coursework at the Missouri School of Journalism and the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston.

Mr. Holland received an Award from the National Press Photographers Association 1966-1968, the Competition Award from World Press Photo in 1967, the Film Award from the National Newsweek-Bolex Documentary Film Contest in 1969, an Individual Photography Film Competition Award in 1970 and a Personal Library Award from Ohio University. Additionally, he received a Bronze Medal from the New York International Film and Television Festival in 1971, awards from the North America Sport Karate Association, awards for his hardcover books, and both the Eric Hoffer Excellence Award and the Next Generation Indie Book Award from USA Book News in 2008 and 2009. He was also featured in Black and White Magazine, which recognized him for his work.
