Mr. Atkins has been the owner and founder of Team Atkins LLC since 2022, a service-disabled veteran-owned enterprise dedicated to brand development and entrepreneurship. His entrepreneurial spirit and leadership have been instrumental in establishing and growing the business. Committed to developing innovative brands for clients, his firm focuses on enriching communities through his work while elevating industry standards. Among his most notable accomplishments in brand development, Mr. Atkins launched Sapper Pete's. Roasted in the USA, the coffee company donates a portion of its sales to aid veteran mental health initiatives.

In addition to this venture, Mr. Atkins has pursued his passion for acting since 2019 as a professional actor through the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). He is presently working on a screenplay that draws upon his life experiences. Mr. Atkins' goal is to ensure this meticulous project resonates with authenticity and quality amidst today's vast landscape of content creation.

In the education sector, Mr. Atkins made significant contributions as an EBD program teacher at Marietta City Schools in 2023. He was also a social support behavioral classroom teacher for grades three through five at Clayton County Public Schools from 2021 to 2023. Mr. Atkins's dedication to student development was previously evident during his time as a gaining appropriate performance teacher for middle and high school students at Aldine Independent School District between 2016 and 2021 after garnering expertise as a substitute teacher at East Central Independent School District from 2015 to 2016. Mr. Atkins's diverse career also included working as a truck driver for Maverick Transportation LLC in 2015 and providing valuable services as a government support contractor for Goodwill Industries of San Antonio from 2011 to 2014. During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Atkins was a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice between 2008 and 2009. However, he achieved his most notable accomplishments through his dedicated service to the country for over a decade, where he attained the rank of sergeant before retiring in 2011 as a combat engineer and noncommissioned officer in the U.S. Army National Guard.

As a dedicated civic leader, Mr. Atkins and two other veterans founded Every Effort Inc., where he serves as the nonprofit's chairperson. Although the initial intention was to provide veteran services, it shifted to focus on at-risk youth. Mr. Atkins also remains a member of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America and is recognized as a life member of Disabled American Veterans.

The foundation of Mr. Atkins's success can be traced back to his academic achievements, having earned a Bachelor of Science in religious studies from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, in 2013. He also received credentials as a certified teacher in Texas and Georgia and certification as a notary public through the Clayton County Superior Court.

Active in his professional community, Mr. Atkins is an associate member of the American Federation of Teachers and a member of the Veteran in Media and Entertainment and SAG-AFTRA.

Mr. Atkins has been recognized with numerous awards, including a Proclamation of R.J. Atkins Day by the City of Houston in Texas in 2019 to acknowledge his remarkable accomplishments and achievements as a veteran entertainer, writer, and community servant. His distinguished service in the military also resulted in him being decorated with an Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Armed Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and, among others, a National Defense Service Medal, and an Overseas Service Ribbon, all of which were awarded by various branches of the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Army.
