Prior to joining Tesla, Dr. Haghayeghi was a senior materials quality engineer at Toyota North America and a supplier quality engineer at Volvo Trucks, where he developed an innovative alloy that significantly impacted the company's manufacturing processes. At GF Linamar LLC/GF Casting Solutions, as a metallurgist, he was instrumental in modifying a process to surpass certification requirements, leading that company is selected by BMW for next project. Dr. Haghayeghi's earlier career included a decade of teaching and research as an assistant professor at Islamic Azad University, as well as engineering roles with British Airways, BP, Innoval Technology, Luxfer Gas Cylinders, Alcan, and Novelis.
Dr. Haghayeghi's academic background laid the foundation for his professional achievements. He completed his postdoctoral studies in material science and engineering with a minor in foundry and casting at Universidade Estadual de Campinas in Brazil in 2015. He earned his doctorate in materials engineering with a focus on solidification and casting from Brunel University London in England in 2009 and holds a materials characterization certificate from the same institution. His Master of Science degree in materials identification and selection was obtained from University of Tehran in his native country of Iran, and he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in materials engineering-industrial metallurgy from Islamic Azad University Science and Research Branch, also in Iran. In recognition of his scholarly excellence, Dr. Haghayeghi received a postdoctoral grant from TWAS-UNESCO/ FAPESP in 2015 which is only granted to few people in each field of science and was awarded a PhD scholarship by the Department of Trade and Industry in the United Kingdom.
