As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Zirpoli is a seasoned professional with a profound expertise in criminal behavior. Currently, he serves as the senior investigative specialist at the Sherry Black Foundation. Since 2018, he has been instrumental in providing law enforcement-based training and expert reviews of investigations, upholding the organization's mission to create safer communities by using resources to remove criminal justice system barriers to advance investigations.

Coupled with his current role, Mr. Zirpoli is the owner of Patrick J. Zirpoli LLC Consulting and Investigation, which he established in 2015. His firm offers a wealth of investigative services, drawing from his decades of experience in law enforcement, to aid the victims of crimes. Before venturing into consultancy, Mr. Zirpoli held the title of state police trooper for the Pennsylvania State Police, a position he held for over 20 years of his career, until being promoted to corporal in 2012.

While serving in his leadership role for the Pennsylvania State Police, Mr. Zirpoli made significant contributions across a variety of criminal investigations, particularly in homicide cases and child-related crimes. Before retiring from his position, he supervised the Criminal Investigation Assessment Unit, specializing in violent and serial crimes, and organized statewide efforts to solve cold case homicides, among other serious offenses. Additionally, he served as the coordinator for the state's Amber Alert and the Missing Endangered Persons Advisory System.

During his tenure as the Amber Alert coordinator, Mr. Zirpoli worked on numerous child abduction cases throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. While working for the state police, he represented the institution as a subject matter expert on crime scene assessment, criminal behavior, homicide investigation, and sexual assault investigation, among other areas of focus, and channeled his legal and investigative acumen in the classroom, as both a teacher and coordinator. He served as a training coordinator for the Criminal Investigation Assessment Unit and created various courses on a variety of pertinent subjects, which have and continue to serve as instructional tools to teach law enforcement agencies and related groups across the United States as well as internationally.

Leading up to his esteemed position within the Pennsylvania State Police, Mr. Zirpoli served as a correctional officer with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections in Waymart, Pennsylvania, from 1989 to 1992, which laid the groundwork for his career in law enforcement. Moreover, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In reflecting on his career overall, he cites the pinnacle of his career as functioning as a leader in the investigation of the sniper attack at the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in Blooming Grove in 2014. His adept handling of this high-profile case—assisted in solving it after a relentless 48-day manhunt—stands out as a testament to his investigative acumen and commitment to justice.

For his impactful contributions and commitment to justice, Mr. Zirpoli received numerous commendations during his time with the Pennsylvania State Police and is recognized as an expert in crime scene reconstruction, crime scene assessment, and unsolved homicide investigation by the Indiana Supreme Court. He is a member of both the National Homicide Investigators Association and the International Homicide Investigators Association and is a repeat presenter at the American Academy of Forensic Science. In all he has pursued and achieved, Mr. Zirpoli acknowledges the unwavering support from his family, particularly that of his wife, who has been a cornerstone of his success.

As a licensed private investigator, Mr. Zirpoli has dedicated his career to helping victims and their families obtain justice and aims to continue with this work and expand his knowledge. Recently, he started to explore the world of genetic genealogy. Along with advancing genetic genealogy and behavior training to advance these areas as they relate to his work in the investigative sphere, his goal is to mentor the next generation in his field, training as many young professionals as he can within the next several years, in the hope they will continue his work and carry forward his dedication to law enforcement and criminal justice education in the future.
