Before joining Truist, Mr. Bingel was a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services Inc. from 2011 to 2014, where he began to build his client base. Mr. Bingel earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) in 2014 and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) in 2023. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bingel served as a personal banker at Wells Fargo and Company from 2010 to 2011, providing customers with banking solutions and referrals to different retail partners to help them improve their overall finances. Mr. Bingel credits his ability to quickly analyze a client's financial picture and provide solutions with the tools he has gained from working in different industries.
He worked as a Budget Analyst for Richland County in Columbia, SC, from 2009 to 2010. He also worked at Blackbaud in Charleston, SC, from 2006 to 2009. Blackbaud provides software for non-profits, and Mr. Bingel worked in sales and support while earning his MBA and utilizing the company's tuition reimbursement program. Before Blackbaud, Mr. Bingel worked as a financial advisor for AXA from 2003 to 2006. Here, he began building his financial planning skills on the company's Retirement Benefits Group team. He would visit public schools and colleges to speak with staff about their pension and retirement programs while providing them with tax savings and financial planning ideas.
Mr. Bingel earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and management from the University of South Carolina in 2002 and a Master of Business Administration in business administration and management from The Citadel in 2009. Mr. Bingel's education has been instrumental in his professional achievements, particularly his ability to cultivate lasting relationships with clients. Additionally, he credits his wife as an unwavering inspiration throughout his career journey.
Mr. Bingel had planned on attending law school and even took the LSAT twice. To this end, he interned at a law firm in downtown Charleston in the summer of his junior year of college. During his senior year of college, he interned at Wachovia Investments, influencing his decision to enter the finance industry. Between his finance classes and brokerage firm internship, he realized he could have a far more significant impact on people's lives working as a financial advisor without the law school debt.
