An accomplished architect with years of expertise in the design and construction of the building's exterior envelope, fenestration upgrades and replacements, and roofing and waterproofing recovery, Mr. Chan excels with Socotec, Inc. as the senior principal and director of existing buildings. In this capacity, he leads a technical team of over 25 nation-wide, oversees all of the division's projects, and the preparation of detailed architectural drawings. Throughout his career thus far, he has worked on a variety of New York-based projects, including the Mark and Ace Hotels, The Fred French Building at 551 Fifth Avenue, Carnegie Hall, and currently the Waldorf Astoria at 301 Park Avenue, where he is the Architect of Record for the façade restoration project. Alongside his work with Socotec, Mr. Chan owns a restaurant with his wife.
Before establishing himself in the industry, Mr. Chan earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the Cooper Union School of Architecture. Over the years, he has also become a registered architect in New York and a qualified exterior wall inspector (QEWI) for hundreds of buildings for compliance with the Façade Inspection & Safety Program (FISP) Ordinance. While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Chan takes the most pride in driving the expansion of Socotec's work in existing buildings.
