Mr. Epard stands out as a seasoned professional with over 25 years of diverse experience in the for-profit sectors of technology, communications, and energy and the non-profit sectors of private school education and religious organizations. Since 2023, he has been serving as the CEO and founder of The Nexus Initiative, his boutique Executive Coaching practice. His unique coaching philosophy centers on the concept that success rests on decisions made at the crossroads, the nexus, of logically oriented left-brain processes and creative-emotionally oriented right-brain processes. Epard calls this integrated mindset "Nexus Thinking™," and in support of that philosophy, he focuses on two specific skills: Emotional Intelligence (right brain) and Mental Agility (left brain). Mr. Epard's professional expertise is extensive and unique. His business acumen was influenced by his early experiences growing up in a family agricultural business. After completing his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Kansas State University (Cum Laude), he accepted a Sales Account Management position with Texas Instruments (TI) and worked in Silicon Valley during the internet boom in the late 1990's. Soon thereafter, he became a product manager in TI's acquisition, Amati Communications, a fast-paced Stanford-originated broadband semiconductor startup. Following his time at TI, he took a job at Level 3 Communications as Director of Product Portfolio Management and later as Director of Offer Planning and Analysis, in Broomfield, Colorado.
After gaining valuable experience at Texas Instruments and Level 3 Communications, Mr. Epard made his first foray into entrepreneurship by co-founding a financially successful renewable energy company with his brother. His second stint as an entrepreneur came in 2021 when Mr. Epard pivoted back to his technology roots and founded a cryptocurrency mining company called Agrypto. Most recently, he founded the Nexus Initiative; his third startup venture in executive coaching. He is grateful for his wife's encouragement to leverage his extensive professional experience into executive coaching so he can help others.
Parallel to his entrepreneurial ventures, Mr. Epard was also a successful angel investor and served on multiple startup boards as well as private school and church non-profit boards. Further, he was recently selected as a Blackstone Entrepreneurial Network advisor, a Peer Coach for the Bailey Program for Family Enterprise at Denver University, and Secretary of the Wharton Club of Colorado.
Alongside his work, Mr. Epard obtained an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, further developing his business and strategic skillset. The additional qualifications he brings to The Nexus Initiative include being a certified Executive Coach, a certified Positive Psychology practitioner, a certified Genos Emotional Intelligence practitioner, and a member of the International Coaching Federation.
Mr. Epard also believes in the importance of community involvement and was acknowledged with a plaque for his commitment to leading the realization of a new Middle Building from the International School of Denver. The values of hard work, determination, and authenticity instilled during his upbringing in western Kansas have been pivotal to his achievements.
